Heart for Haiti

If there's one thing the Lord taught me in Haiti, it's this: to look into the heart and soul of another human is allowing God to let us see them as He does and allowing Him to break our heart for what breaks His. To gaze into the eyes and souls of destitute, helpless orphans defined by poverty and circumstances forced upon them was to allow God to break my heart deeper than ever before. God's love for them is eternal and He has proven that through the blood of His Son on the cross. God sees them as He sees all of us- helpless, with no way out other than Christ. The dependence of those precious children on others for survival is a direct picture of our need for Christ. As Christ has loved me in my helplessness, so I must love those who are helpless around me- being a picture of Christ to all I encounter, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Whether a helpless orphan in Haiti, or the coworker in the cubicle next to me, we all have the same need and purpose= to glorify God through the blood of Christ. God has reminded me through the children and people of Haiti what His love is: being broken for the needs of another, both physical and spiritual. As my heart was broken for these precious children, so does God break for each and every soul He created. God is always sovereign and His love will prevail over all injustice. Praise Him for His good deeds!
